Tiger News

This week in math we are studying Addition and Subtraction. On Friday the students came in and got a new name for the day. They were all a double math equation, the name tag would say 3+3 and other students would call him/her six. It amazed me how fast they picked it up and how much fun they had!

 To spice Phonics up we pull 'fun sticks,' This stick said 'Cowboy.'  Students have to turn their chairs around, lasso, and pull in the word g-o-e-s!
 In Science we are studying the seasons of the year. Cami helped me demonstrate how seasons change depending on the amount of sunlight we get.
 Sight Word Walk- Students have to say the sight word when they line up.

In Science we are continuing our study on the Seasons of the year. In Math we are practicing addition and subtraction in story problems. Please continue to help out with our class service project. Bring items to donate to Women's Protective Services.Spelling Contract 14 Let's Go to the Moon!

From our class

Today we talked today about Martin Luther King and his dream. The students shared how they could make the world a better place, no matter how young they are. 


We studied -ake word families. We made snakes on a cake. Students wrote -ake words on their snake.
 I found a interesting site over the break. You type in your message and it pulls up actual buildings all over the word to spell your message. We did it with our site words. Geogreeting
 In science we studied clouds. We read Little Cloud by Eric Carle. Students held up parts of the story as we read. 
 I found some new math apps that are perfect for my students. Students also use my old iPhone to listen to stories and use apps. 
This is birthday weekend! Happy birthday Isiarius, Makenzie, and Austen!

Our Readers Theater went great! We got to see our friend Zachary, who used to be in our class. I was so proud of the kids! 
Our reading story this week is Animal Groups. In science we are studying seasons. I moved our Time math assessment until Wednesday. I felt like the students needed more time to practice. Spelling list 13 Sight words: bird, fly, those, both, long, walk, eyes, or

Short Week

Update!
I am excited about our Readers Theater this Friday. The students will read a script from 'If you Take a Mouse to School' We are reader 1 and a class from Crestview is Reader 2. We will be doing this through ITV. (It is kinda like Skype!) We will be making props this week!
 We started working on time last week! Please work with your child on identifying time to the hour and half hour! Our assessment will be on Friday.
 Weather Student of the day-Gabby! 

 In science we are studying weather. The students created Roy G. Biv to help them remember the colors of the rainbow!



We are back to normal this week with all subjects. Our story this week is The Big Race. Our sight words this week are- three, starts, over, into, five, four, watch, two. In science we will be studying weather. ELAR- We will be making predictions! I hope you had a wonderful holiday, and I am so glad the kids are back!
