Short Week

Hunting for Prepositions


 Students brought 3-D shapes from home. We shared them with one another and then classified them.


 Mystery Shape- Students had to pull a shape out of the bag and tell about it.

 Class Caterpillar- Compound Words
 On the leg of the caterpillar are two words and on the body the compound word.
 Center- Play dough
 Center- Addition and subtraction. Students showed their answer with cubes.
This week: Spelling Words-19 Sight Words- thought, better, window, saw, told, night, turned, pretty. Science- Living and Non-Living organisms. English- Pronouns and story structure. 3-D Shapes Poem

End Of The Six Weeks!

Check us out on Tigerbook! The kids can post a status two times a week. There are some funny ones! 
I wanted students to see how math is all around them.
 A.R Goal Party! We got to play on jumpers. The kids were pumped up!
In honor of valentines day the kids rotated to 4 different centers. There was a heart with beads in it. The student's had to count, tally, sketch, spell and put the beads in expanded notation!

New spelling activity of the week: Spelling on the IPods on a whiteboard App.
  
In Science we are finishing up our phases of the moon unit.
Coming up next week: No school Monday.
Science- We are finishing up our moon, stars unit. We will start non-living and living organisms.

Valentines and such!

Thank you for helping with the Valentines party. The kids had a blast!




 New spelling word play-dough center!
 New spelling activity- Students were put into two teams. I tell them a word to spell. If they get the word right then they get a chance to shoot a 'basket' to earn a point for their team!

In math we are studying large numbers. Each student got a balloon with a number inside of it. They had to pop their balloon and put themselves in order from greatest to least!





We went back and visited our weather unit to do this science experiment. The shaving cream represents a cloud. The blue food coloring is rain. When the cloud gets 'full' it 'breaks' and it starts to rain!

 Sight Words
Our story is Tomas Rivera. Here is our spelling words. Please bring a toilet/ paper towel roll. Just the brown part by the end of the week. We will be using it to make our own Angry Bird!

100 Days Smarter!!

 When I am a 100 years old I will look like........





I am so proud my students we brought 130 items for Women's Protective Services. Thank you parents for making it possible.


 We made a bar graph of the items. 

 We categorized the items, counted them by 2's,5's 10's.
 Last Friday we went and read to Mrs. Howard's Kindergarten class.We downloaded a story on the IPods and read the story off of it. The students did a great job!
I made the room pitch dark. The students used flashlights to find their sight words around the room. They loved it!
 Happy late groundhog day! The students made predictions on whether the groundhog would see his shadow or not. 

 To practice inferring, the students pulled items out of my purse and tried to figure out what it meant.
 Our Doubles Rap- Students create an Ipod and would 'play' double songs!

Our story next week is Where Does Food Come From. We are finishing our math unit on story problems. The assessment will be on Tuesday. In science we are studying Night and Day. Our sight words this week is- first, food, ground, right, sometimes, these, under, your.
